Level ONE! And…we’re back!



Wow! 2020 has been a rollercoaster – and we’re not even half way through!

But, it’s time to party (cautiously and safely)! And we’re here to help you and yours.

For all of June, you can register your party with us and have all guests get 20% off the total price* of their costume hire!

To register your party for the 20% discount, simply email or private message us on social media with the subject “20, ug 20 deal”, fill out your details with your name, theme, date, number of people and it’s all yours!

*The 20, Ugh 20 Deal is applicable when spending $25 or more on a costume
**We wash, dry, and sanitise all costumes thoroughly after each hire to ensure that items are hygienic, fresh, and ready for their next adventure!

Level 2 – We’re Back!

With the shift to Level 2 we will be reopening on Monday 18th of May! Wahoo!

Please take note of our 10 Golden Shop Rule to ensure everyone’s safety.

At this time we are sadly unable to cater for browsers, only those intending to hire. Please EMAIL us for any queries.

We have a new fandangled Remote Hire Form live on the website, that we encourage you to use to help us help you by limiting contact and time in store.

Cave Vouchers Are Here!


Kia ora koutou!

We hope you are all keeping well and safe.

A little update: it’s been a roller coaster ride the past 4 weeks, but we are feeling positive about the possible shift from Alert Level 4 to Level 3 on Monday 20 April.

However, we still won’t be opening while at Level 3 as we are a non-essential service, and our team, our families and the public’s safety is our main priority. We are listening closely to the reports, and will update you as we go.
Unfortunately, the future is uncertain.
We will consider opening only when we reach level 2, if we are able, and are currently working on how we navigate hiring through this Level.
Please keep your eyes on our social media for updates.

In the meantime, we have some fun new gift vouchers here for you! These can be spent in the near future when we reopen, whether it be for your next hire or at our sale – and oh my, oh my, it’ll be the BEST and BIGGEST yet!

If you would like to buy a voucher (to help us pay the bills!) please EMAIL Kate at info@costumecave.co.nz. This can can be made out for any amount. We will then email you the invoice details, you can pay online, and we will email you a copy of your voucher. Please feel free to ask us any questions.

Covid-19 Update


Kia ora friends~

In response to the Government’s advice and the Level 4 Alert, the Cave’s doors are closed effective immediately, until further notice.

If you have not been able to return your costume, please don’t worry. There are no late fees.

We have texted you if you have a costume to pick up and are so sorry for all of the cancelled events. Please EMAIL Kate if you need us (info@costumecave.co.nz)

We are so so grateful to all our amazing customers, family and friends for the love and support – now and over our 29 years of trading.

We hope to see you all again soon, in some shape or form.

Covid-19 Updates


At the moment we are still trading, and strictly following m.o.h guidelines.
We are open today and Wednesday for pick ups, drop offs and last minutes hires : 10 – 5pm.

From Wednesday 5pm we will be implementing a ‘by an appointment only’ system from to limit physical distancing.

Sadly, we can no longer accept Browsers, only customers who intend to hire. Please don’t be offended if we ask you not to bring friends – unless it’s absolutely necessary.

We will be contacting everyone today who have costumes to pick up, or have booked for the future, or still out on hire. Please let us know if you need to cancel or can not return if you are unwell or self isolating. There are no late fees.

Please please please stay at home if you are unwell.

We are doing what we can right now, it is day by day, and things will change quickly so we will keep you updated.
